Meet Hope and Lieutenant — Mini Highland Cows With Exceptional Traits
Hope and Lieutenant are two premium Mini Highland cows available through Wann Ranch. These animals have been raised with careful pasture nutrition and handling to make daily interaction and long‑term herd integration smooth and rewarding.

Why Mini Highland Cattle Are So Desirable
Compact and Hardy Breed
Mini Highland cows are ideal for farms where space is at a premium or where owner handling is part of daily care routines. They combine:
Strong hardiness — suitable for variable climates
Calm and gentle temperaments
Efficient grazing and forage use
Lower feed needs compared with larger beef breeds
Their ability to thrive on pasture while maintaining good structure and body condition makes them a cost‑effective and visually enjoyable breed.
Eye‑Catching Appearance
Mini Highland cattle are easily recognized by their:
Long, flowing coats in a variety of colors
Expressive eyes and gentle forelocks
Distinctive look that makes them popular in agritourism, farm tours, and hobby herds
Hope and Lieutenant, in particular, showcase the classic Highland look in a smaller, more manageable frame.
Friendly and Trainable
Mini Highland cows are known for their calm and social nature, making them suitable for families, youth programs like 4‑H and FFA, and operations where regular handling and grooming are part of livestock care.

Hope is a young and proven cow, with many years of productive calf-bearing ahead of her, accompanied by her bull calf. This year, she gave birth to our first calf of the season, Lieutenant. As a first-time mother, Hope performed exceptionally well, likely benefiting from the experience and guidance of her own mother, LiTerra Adalida, our first impactful dam. Hope took great pride in her calf, ensuring he was up and nursing swiftly, mirroring the behavior of our most seasoned cows.
Raised at our miniature Highland cow farm, Hope was halter-trained as a calf and still responds to haltering, though she requires a little incentive in the form of grain. Lieutenant, her calf, is social and curious, though he hasn't undergone halter training yet. He is currently in the process of being registered, a process that includes DNA testing and may take several weeks to complete. Once finalized, the registration and transfer will be completed to his new owner’s name. Lieutenant's sire, Jaunty Lad, shows promising traits, and the calf is demonstrating significant potential as a future bull.
